I remembered that day………..when I called my classmate a hoe. In Latin. and she does not notice it. Everyone else weren’t either and thought I was just showing off. I was pissed and expressed hatred with proficiency of another language.

Then when i recalled that moment I thought, "Curses? insults? This is not me! How did I get pissed off anyway?"

When you release an insult, it is like releasing a bomb from a bomber aircraft to the city below. You feel a good feeling once you release it.

But the damage to the city can’t be undone.

BAGAIMANAKAH seorang doktor penyakit jiwa (psychiatrist) tergamak membunuh beribu-ribu orang awam dan bertanggungjawab mengusir ratusan ribu lagi dari kampung halaman mereka?

Kerana inilah yang dilakukan oleh Dr. Radovan Karadzic bersama rakannya, Jeneral Ratko Mladic semasa perang di Bosnia pada tahun 1992-1995. Kedua-
duanya bertindak bagi kaum Serbia terhadap orang-orang Islam.

Lebih 10 tahun telah berlalu, tetapi kedua-duanya masih bebas walaupun hadiah lima juta dolar Amerika telah ditawarkan. Kisah mereka muncul kembali dalam sepucuk surat yang terbit dalam majalah Amerika, Esquire, keluaran bulan November 2007 dan baru kini terdapat jualan di Kuala Lumpur.

Surat ditulis oleh wartawan majalah itu, Nick Bradshaw, yang bercerita mengenai pembikinan filem tragedi tersebut oleh salah seorang bintang filem terkemuka, Richard Gere. Lalu diulangi keluhan beliau: Alangkah baiknya kalau Presiden Bill Clinton dulu lebih cepat campur tangan dalam perang di Bosnia.

Menurut Bradshaw lagi, Karadzic ting di sebuah rumah besar di Pale dalam kawasan kaum Serbia. Rumah itu berkali-kali diserbu oleh pasukan tentera NATO, tetapi Karadzic tidak pernah berada di rumah. Oleh kerana kawasan gunung-ganang di situ, maka ia mudah bersembunyi.

Kenyataan daripada ahli-ahli keluarganya sukar diperoleh, tetapi akhirnya Bradshaw dapat bertemu dengan anak perempuannya, Sonja, berumur 40 tahun dan ibu kepada dua orang anak. “Sebagaimana ayahnya, Sonja seorang doktor,” Bradshaw menulis lagi. Dan fasih bercakap dalam bahasa Inggeris.

Majalah

Berupa latar belakang terbitan majalah Amerika itu ialah sebuah buku berjudul Unfinest Hour: Britain and The Destruction of Bosnia (Penguin Books, 2001) yang mengecam keengganan bertindak kerajaan British (parti Konservatif) ketika itu. Akibatnya pihak Serbia bebas membunuh beribu-ribu orang Islam.

Buku tersebut antara lain membuat kesimpulan: “Tanpa campur tangan Amerika, maka pihak Serbia tidak mungkin dikalahkan pada tahun 1995. Kerajaan Amerika bertindak dengan berani menyokong pihak Bosnia dalam peperangan 1992-1995 itu walaupun menghadapi risiko pecahnya perpaduan perikatan kuasa-kuasa Barat. Puluhan ribu lagi orang Islam dari kaum Albania di Bosnia dan Kosovo, mungkin mati dibunuh dan sejuta lagi kehilangan rumah tangga mereka tanpa campur tangan Amerika.”

Lantas disebut betapa masjid-masjid di kawasan kaum Serbia sengaja diruntuhkan. Tujuan pihak Serbia sebenarnya ialah untuk menghapuskan orang-orang Islam. Istilah yang dipakai ialah “pembersihan etnik (ethnic cleansing).

Sementara itu pula laporan-laporan BBC ketika itu dianggap lebih condong kepada pihak Serbia. Dalam pada itu, di mes para pegawai tentera, orang-orang Islam secara lucu diberi gelaran “wogs”. Pihak lain pula memanggil mereka “white niggers.”

Cerita paling sedih ialah pembunuhan beramai-ramai di Srebenica, yang waktu itu dilindungi oleh tentera Belanda, iaitu sebahagian daripada tentera BangsaBangsa Bersatu. Pada pertengahan bulan Julai 1995, laskar Serbia mengetepikan tentera Belanda di situ. Puluhan ribu pengungsi Islam Bosnia dipindahkan ke tempat lain. “Kira-kira 7,000 orang lelaki dibunuh dan ditanam dalam kubur-kubur besar.”

Sambungan cerita terbit dalam laporan khas akhbar Times, London pada 12 Disember 2007. Penulisnya Anthony Loyd menyeru semua pihak menyokong kemerdekaan Kosova seperti telah disarankan. Loyd menceritakan suatu pengalamannya sebagai wartawan:

“Saya melihat kira-kira 40,000 orang Kosovo dikepung oleh polis Serbia. Yang muda, lelaki tua, wanita dan kanak-kanak memandang dengan cemas dan takut, jauh ke arah rumah-rumah dan kampung-kampung sedang dibakar.”

Dalam keadaan sekarang pelbagai pihak ragu-ragu adakah Kosovo wajar diberi kemerdekaan? Lalu Loyd menulis: “Pihak Serbia tidak berkuasa lagi di Kosovo sejak 1999. Majoriti rakyat Kosovo mahu kemerdekaan. Kerana, terutama sekali, mereka wajar merdeka.”

Keputusan

Turut menunggu keputusan tentunya Karadzic, doktor yang sepatutnya merawat pesakit jiwa tetapi hal sebaliknya berlaku. Menoleh ke masa lampau ialah catatan mengenai seorang komandan kem tahanan (concentration camp) Nazi Jerman semasa Perang Dunia Kedua.

Setelah membunuh sebilangan tahanan dengan gas racun ia balik ke rumah menyertai semula keluarga. Ia kemudian memasang piring lagu klasik gubahan Wagner. Tiada rasa gundah baginya, apatah lagi rasa menyesal. Dan pada hari-hari lain yang sama berlaku.

I was just finished downloading LP’s new album’s torrent, then I found out that it was fake, and was sung by a group called Tribal Ink. I was amazed by their music and started looking for them.Typing ‘Tribal Ink direct downloads’ soemhow directed me to a website called ‘hazardous substances’ which has direct DL’s of rapcore groups. I downloaded some of the groups…and went to a website of one of them. it listed Deftones as an influence. Then, inspired by that I wiki-ed about deftones, and turns out it has been an established group since 1995, with its new album SNW peaked in 2006. I searched in esnips and was truly fascinated.

That wouldn’t happen if I didn’t accidentally listen to Sumaiya’s Linkin Park cassette back in 2000 which made me an LP fanatic since then, which would not happen if I didn’t participate in painting the class.

One act does not just lead to one consequence, but a widespread effect can occur in your timeline. A small act can lead to worldwide changes.
