A Greater Jihad
One day there was a young man, and he approached Muhammad pbuh.
"O messenger, I want to go for Jihad.(to battle)"
Then the messenger asked, "Do you have any living parents as home?"
The young man replied, "Yes I do, both are old."
The Messenger then advised, "Why don’t you go for a greater Jihad, that is to take care of your parents when they are old and weak…"

One day after returning to battle, one of the Muslim combatants commented on how victorious they are in the recent engagement.
The messenger pbuh who heard this, said - "We have only won the small Jihad, but there is a great Jihad waiting to be finished."
"What is the greater Jihad than this war, O truthful messenger?"
He replied, "It is the Jihad to fight the ‘nafs’ (temptation)…a lot has lost and few have succeeded…"
